Management skills and their importance
The
possession of certain attributes or characteristics in a manager which helps him/her
to be an ideal manager requires adequate management skills. Thus,
management skills are abilities that allow the effective flow of
activities within the organization.
All managers require the ability to communicate
properly, organize and encourage employees, as well as schedule projects
successfully. Management abilities are vital since they may help your
organization run smoothly as well as help you advance in your profession.
There
is a very prominent saying- “People don’t leave the organization; people leave
ineffective managers.” Thus, the role of good management skills is pivotal in
order to have long-term employees within the organization.

Within the Hotel Industry, a leader is known for his/her management skills as the quantum of work at times becomes unbearable (Guy, 2020).
Some of the key skills include:
- Good Communication skills
- Ability to make fast and quick decisions
- Pertaining empathy towards fellow employees
- Extending motivation at constant levels
- Emotional Intelligence
- Good interpersonal skills
Managers
are the source through which the overall cycle of work comes into the right
place. If the source is weak, then the overall system also fails to respond in
a good manner. The types of managerial skills which every manager, irrespective
of its industry must possess also include technical skills, conceptual skills,

As
provided under the Human relations theory, the more valued an employee
feels, the more his productivity increases towards work. Elton Mayo developed
the Human Relations Theory and conducted numerous experiments for making human relations within the workplace better. The conclusion of his research was
that a major source of motivation for employees is their relationship with
managers rather than money or fame.
Thus,
if the manager communicates properly to the employees with respect to their
responsibilities, job roles, targets, assignment of duties etc, it
automatically enhances his or her relationship with them, causing them to be
more motivated and productive.

the responsibility of a manager and the chances of success get multiplied when
